Bailey
Bailey is a 3 year old beautiful Akbash which is typically a livestock guardian dog but she doesn’t know that! She prefers lounging on the couch all day or trying to lay in a dog bed that’s too small for her! 😂 No walks or activities required for this girl, just a soft place to land. I can’t blame her as whatever her life was before she was found by us, it was a extremely rough one. She not only had valley fever but she had been shot with a BB gun. She was very undersocialized with both people and dogs. To be honest, the first night I sat with her in the front yard and slowly pet her. Her reaction was so surprised and genuine that I truly believe this was the first time she was ever shown physical affection. It was like she had never been touched and once she realized how good it felt she couldn’t get enough. Bailey is a long timer as her rehab took longer due to her previous trauma But she has turned into such an incredible dog! She adores my autistic son and is so gentle and calm when asking him for pets and although we DO NOT encourage it, he touches her in the eyes out of curiosity and she doesn’t even react. She likes men, women, kids and dogs! She now looks forward to the yard time with all the other dogs and getting to play and wrestle around! She loves splashing in the kiddie pool. She is house trained and free roams when we are home and stays in the Master Bath when we are not. I will ask that we do slow intros with other dogs and that we do a few play dates before adopting to make sure the play styles match up. She is a tall dog at 75lbs and her home would need at least a 6ft secure fence. She doesn’t try to escape but she is terrified of fireworks or things that sound similar like a car backfiring and if she is outside she will try to find the nearest exit so it’s important that her adoptive family be willing to take precautions to supervise potty time till she knows her home. That also means her family needs to be committed to continuing to desensitize and sedate her during the big firework holidays. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Adoption donation is $250
