This gorgeous Goldendoodle was found as a stray in horrific conditions and had the worst case of matting we have ever seen. WARNING! Photos below may be a bit graphic to some. He was so casted (when the hair is so matted and compacted it becomes a hard cast) his tail was stuck in a downward point and we couldn’t tell if he was a boy or girl. He weighed 50lbs at intake which is underweight for this size of dog and after being shaved that day he was 43lbs!! 😭 7lbs of matted, hardened hair. He had some casts as big as my hand, it was heart wrenching! The smell was beyond articulation. His hips and ribs were showing through. After getting him to the vet the next day he had rotted teeth from the poor nutrition and neglect, he had severe ear infections and a severe UTI. Both took 3 rounds of antibiotics to clear up as well as eye drops to clear up the infection in both eyes. We had he teeth extracted while he was neutered so we didn’t have to put him under again. This boy was a diamond in the rough! He now weighs about 65lbs. Although he is the most gentle, sweet boy he showed signs neglect and of physical abuse. We gave him a bed and he refused to lay in it for almost a week. I kept climbing in the kennel and laying with him and he finally realized how comfortable it was. From day one he would pancake out of fear when you reach out to pet him. 💔😭 We have worked so hard to build up his confidence and you can tell he sees hands much differently now but will need continued affirmation from a family who is kind and gentle to him. With all he has been through it’s mind-blowing that there is not a reactive bone in his body. He just wants to know what true love is, he wants someone to mend his heart. ❤️‍🩹 He isn’t destructive, great with other dogs but isn’t big on wrestling, he would rather hang out and chill. Great with all kiddos from baby through toddler. He is 4.5 years old. He is Neutered, Vaccinated and Microchipped. Adoption donation is $350
